VJ

VJing is the term used to describe the triggering and real-time manipulation of visual content. VJing can provide a stunning backdrop for concerts and clubs. Elements of the projected visuals are manually controlled to react to the intensity of the music, the environment and the crowd. Content can be pre-made as well as generated live, and when combined with live camera feeds, audiences can be brought closer to the action and immersed in the performance. Completely adaptable to any show, visuals can be subtle and complementary or take centre stage and transport viewers on a hypnotic journey.

Double Take Projections in-house team are capable of creating bespoke content as well as performing for live shows with industry-standard software like Resolume Arena, Notch and Touchdesigner.

Music Festivals

From the start, Double Take Projections have had a keen involvement in Scotland’s festival landscape. The team have created visual content for TRNSMT, T in the Park, Skye Live and Groove Festival. Double Take Projections have proudly delivered live shows for artists such as Groove Armada, 2manyDJs, Tensnake, B.Traits, Duke Dumont, Boys Noize, Leftfield and Mark Knight.

As well as promoting music festivals with guerrilla projection stunts and marketing videos, Double Take Projections have curated and co-operated on the design and installation of several bespoke stage-builds. The team have vast experience in building secure, temporary structures with truss and scaffolding, coated with white fabric for projection. This technique is incredibly impactful in immersing the artists in the projected visuals.

Double Take Projections have worked in a wide variety of venues ranging from 100 capacity clubs to 15,000 capacity arenas such as the Hydro – always adapting to overcome the individual challenges each site presents.

The team have created stunning backdrops for a number of musical and theatrical performances; setting scenes and transporting audiences into new and exciting environments.

Where necessary, Double Take Projections have designed and fabricated bespoke projection surfaces. The team have significant experience in collaborating with crews for more complex installations. They will always liaise with on-site production to ensure all aspects of the visuals are integrated well and executed efficiently.

Music Videos

Double Take Projections have produced and collaborated on a range of music videos, with clients including The Twilight Sad, The Fratellis, Tidelines and Prides – where often, the projections are at the centre of the action.

Due to the portability of our projection equipment, no location is out of reach, and as a result have had some unique shoots in a variety of interesting spaces – including castles, abandoned buildings and disused theatres.

As well as being able to offer a complete in-house service for music video production, the team have also successfully collaborated with a range of other studios, bringing together the likes of directors, lighting designers and camera operators to achieve a polished final video.
