HOW WE DID IT

Light, Music and Heritage

In December 2025, we were proud to deliver Cathedral – A Symphony of Light and Music, a large-scale projection mapping experience that transformed the iconic façade of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dundalk into a vibrant canvas of colour, movement and storytelling. Commissioned as part of the town’s festive programme, the project brought together light, music and heritage to create an immersive open-air spectacle that celebrated the cathedral’s architectural beauty and its enduring role as a place of peace and reconciliation within the community.

Open-air Spectacle

Working in collaboration with Dundalk Credit Union, Dundalk Business Improvement District (BIDs), St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, we designed and produced a series of bespoke projection sequences inspired by the building itself. Intricate details from the cathedral’s interior – including stained glass, mosaics and decorative tiles – were reimagined and brought to life across the exterior, creating a striking visual dialogue between the inside and outside of the space. The content was carefully crafted to balance artistic expression with narrative depth, ensuring the show resonated with audiences of all ages.

Lively Festive Atmosphere

Presented across three evenings, the projection ran as a free-to-attend experience, drawing large crowds into the heart of Dundalk and contributing to a lively and inclusive festive atmosphere. Each performance was designed as a seamless loop, allowing visitors to arrive and engage with the show at any point, while repeat viewings revealed new layers of detail and storytelling. The accessibility of the event was central to its success, offering a shared cultural moment that brought together families, residents and visitors alike.

Multi-sensory Experience

A key highlight of the weekend was the collaboration with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, whose live performances inside the cathedral complemented the outdoor projection. Their ‘Peace & Light’ concert, which sold out in record time, added an additional emotional dimension to the event, reinforcing the project’s core themes of unity, creativity and connection. Together, the projection and live music created a multi-sensory experience that extended beyond the façade and into the heart of the venue.

The response from audiences and stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive, with the event widely regarded as a standout moment in Dundalk’s Christmas programme. By combining technical precision with creative storytelling, we were able to deliver a memorable and meaningful experience that not only showcased the potential of projection mapping, but also strengthened the connection between place, people and culture.
