WHITELEE WIND FARM

George Clarke

Set against the vast landscape of Scotland’s largest onshore wind farm, the projection mapped directly onto a 110-metre operational turbine. Unlike traditional architectural mapping, this was a constantly moving surface, with rotating blades introducing a unique layer of complexity. The result was a striking and memorable launch moment that captured both the scale of renewable energy generation and the human stories behind the transition to greener living.

HOW WE DID IT

Symbols of Renewable Energy

Early into 2026, we delivered a bold and technically ambitious projection at Whitelee Windfarm to launch ScottishPower’s Great Green Challenge, fronted by architect and TV presenter George Clarke. In collaboration with Union Agency, the project transformed one of the UK’s most powerful symbols of renewable energy into a dynamic storytelling canvas – using light to amplify a message about sustainability, innovation and real-world change.

Precise and Highly Adaptive Approach

Set against the vast landscape of Scotland’s largest onshore wind farm, the projection mapped directly onto a 110-metre operational turbine. Unlike traditional architectural mapping, this was a constantly moving surface, with rotating blades introducing a unique layer of complexity. Every element of the content had to be carefully designed to respond to motion, timing and perspective, ensuring visuals aligned seamlessly despite the turbine’s continuous movement. Working within narrow nighttime windows and challenging site conditions, our team developed a precise and highly adaptive approach, pushing the boundaries of what projection mapping can achieve.

Great Green Challenge

The result was a striking and memorable launch moment that captured both the scale of renewable energy generation and the human stories behind the transition to greener living. The projection not only illuminated the turbine itself, but also brought to life the ambition of the Great Green Challenge – ScottishPower’s initiative designed to demystify sustainable choices and make them more accessible for households across the UK.

Cutting-edge Projection Technology

By combining cutting-edge projection technology with a complex, real-world environment, this project stands as a powerful example of how immersive visual experiences can elevate a campaign message. It demonstrated our ability to deliver under demanding conditions while creating visually arresting content that resonates with audiences, both on-site and across digital platforms. Central to this was the involvement of George Clarke, whose role helped connect the spectacle of the installation with a clear, relatable narrative around greener living.
