Stunning Light and Sound Projection Event

Our stunning projection light and sound event was a collaboration with the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and Rolex and was free to local residents and golf fans at the world-renowned Old Course at St. Andrews.  The show was produced to mark the 150th Open and highlighted historical moments from the Open Championship’s beginning in 1860 through its evolution to the present-day using fascinating archive footage and dramatic bespoke graphics.
Sitting proudly overlooking the 1st tee at The Old Course in St Andrews, we projected a ten-minute animation onto the home of Golf. The large crowds, lining the fairway of the 1st and 18th holes, were treated to a cutting-edge production narrated with a specially commissioned voiceover by Gerard Butler.  The breathtaking production included fireworks, lighting installations, and projections and was introduced with a pipe band.

Poignant Moment

The immersive show – combining projections, light and sound – was not only viewed by thousands of St Andrew’s residents of all ages, it was also streamed online via The Open’s social channel to an international audience.  The video was available on The Open website and has been shared widely on social media. Images were circulated in the press and used on television networks.

The timing of the show presented us with an opportunity to show support for the people of Ukraine. In a poignant moment, we projected their yellow and blue flag onto the sandstone clubhouse.  The image was shared extensively on social media and in the press.

Sense of Excitement

“The R&A Celebration of Light was a spectacular way to continue our countdown to The 150th Open at St Andrews. You felt a real sense of excitement among the spectators who attended this evening as we enjoyed reliving the iconic moments which have made this great Championship so revered by millions of fans around the world.” Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A
