PROJECTION LIGHT SHOW

Hollicom – Voco Grand Central Hotel Glasgow

A spectacular light show celebrating the re-opening and multi-million-pound refurbishment of the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
Honouring its fascinating 130-year history and heritage as a British Railway Hotel and Glasgow landmark.

HOW WE DID IT

Spectacular Public Light Show

Our design team were granted access to the extensive archive of the Herald and Glasgow Times, the Caledonian Railway Association and RCAHMS. Pictures were also contributed by Glaswegians, former guests, and staff members who have worked there over the years. We then set to work to create a projection show celebrating the vibrant history of the hotel. The images, chronicling its history and famous guests, were projected alongside the words of Glaswegian playwright Laurie Motherwell.

Visual Art Creatives

Double Take Projections collaborated with Hollicom PR company to produce and project the free light show for six nights from Saturday April 24 2021, illuminating the hotel’s clocktower on Hope Street, Glasgow. As well as celebrating the hotel’s history, our visual art creatives marked the reopening of hospitality across Scotland on 26 April 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic.

The projection mapping show was exceptionally well attended by the public with great reviews and received fantastic coverage on social media, the press and radio.
