Historic images of Edinburgh were projected onto the face of General Register House with new content revealed each day throughout advent. These surprise projections animated General Register House, home of National Records of Scotland, for up to 15 minutes at random times each hour, offering an entertaining take on history for passers-by to enjoy. 24 glimpses of Edinburgh Winters from years gone-by, one revealed each day throughout advent.
Archive of the city dating back to the 1700s was supplied by partners including Historic Environment Scotland, Scotland National Records of Scotland and National Library of Scotland, among others. The images were displayed at varying times across December. The free event was new to Edinburgh’s Christmas action-packed diary, as part of a drive to ensure attractions were more spread out around the city.
We used 4x 25,000 lumen projectors with a variety lenses to envelop General Registers House in Light. We used Madmapper and MacPro Tower for playback and to map the facade.
